A travelling theatre company offering it's audience a performance with a difference!
This film requires a lot of time: the beginning is slow, and if I’m honest it didn’t really need to be. But perhaps due to Heath Ledger’s untimely death during the making of it Terry Gilliam, understandably felt he wanted to have Heath in as many scenes’ as he could possibly manage. But once you’ve sat through a pretty slow and ‘yeah we get it’ start, the film suddenly begins to go somewhere and the momentum is running, the plot is thickening and you’re right in there with it. The parts taken over and played by Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell are all done so excellently and completely within character. As for Colin fans… you’re in for a treat, let’s just say I was laughing my head off, and I can only imagine Colin must have got a real kick out of playing such a part! The other big surprise is Lily Cole, the girl did good, real good. The ending however I’m sad to say was a little disappointing and obvious, and one couldn’t help but feel that maybe this was not the intended ending but one that was slightly rushed due to circumstances. Overall, the film is one of required taste; it’s eccentric and different, it’s wonderfully entertaining in parts, but it does challenge you to stay with in it the beginning. If you like to sit back and be taken on an epic journey into a world of strangely goings-on, and mystical fantasy combined with human nature’s darker side then this is the film for you. This film is one of almost ‘cult’ status as in you know one day you’re going to have to watch it… but you may not necessarily feel the need to watch in it’s entirety again.

Pride & Glory (2008)
Kicking It (This is a documentary 2008)
Colin lends his support to this documentary, about how football can unite so many young people all around the world. It's a worthy piece of work, and worth your viewing and possibly more.

In Bruges (2008)
THE BEST. Two hit-men sent to Bruges to hide out because a job went wrong... that's it! No, it is seriously and completely beautiful in it's writing, and delivery. Extremely well executed by everyone involved, and done so with an edge of keeping it real... and that includes the violence and racism. But the whole film gels together effortlessly. This film challenges you on every level and does so with iconic humour and dangerous perception, and consequence. Everything you shouldn't think and say, but you do and... so wish you could! A must, must, see!!!
Casandra's Dream (2007)
Not what you'd expect from Allen. Two brother's from London. One is addicted to being someone their not, in order to pursue an ideal way of life and classic style, and the other is addicted to quick fix money gambles, in order to try and hang onto the simple life and happiness he's got. When times are good the two brothers decide to buy a boat, as you do. But unfortunately, it's not long before bad times hit them, and before they know it... everything comes crashing down around them. It's not Woody as we like to remember him, but then maybe we're being sentimental. To be fair, the film is watchable enough to keep you on board, if not slightly staged at times. It's an average film, but definitely not a defining moment in Woody Allen's history of creativeness.

Miami Vice (2006)
This is one the man in your life might enjoy... speed boats, guns, fast cars, drugs and dirty money etc. It's an okay film, the idea was nothing new, good guys vs the bad guys, and it's probably best watched after the pub. The main let down is it's so trying not to be like the original Miami Vice, that you might feel slightly cheated, and conned by the fact they had the cheek to call it Miami Vice in the first place. So if, like me, you were expecting the quick whips and banter from MV of old... you're not going to get it here. It's heavy, and taking itself too seriously. As for Colin's accent whack up the volume or flick on the sub-titles otherwise you won't understand a word he's saying... and the less said about the mullet and the 70's porno tash the better! But if you're into Salsa then you're in for a little gem of a dance.

Ask the Dust (2006)
This is a primarily a love story film. It takes a certain amount of commitment, but delivers in a beautiful and simplistic way, which turns out to be the very essence of it's beauty. A love story with a difference, despite being set in the 1930's depression period, and examining all the prejudice that was heavily evident at that time, the film is not depressing to watch. A lovely film, a little bit on the long side, but worth your time.

The New World (2005)
The story of the real Pocahontas. A long epic journey, but worth while. It's simple, yet touching. If you've got a spare Sunday afternoon... then this is one to watch. Amazing insight into how Pocahontas and her people lived, a real learning curve. The English arrive by chance and it's not long before fear, ignorance and assumption from both sides leads to inevitable conflict and personal loss. It's a worthy film to watch, but watch it uninterrupted in order to fully appreciate.

Alexander (2004) Believe it or not, this is actually the most probable truest representation of Alexander the Great... if it were not for the vibrancy of colour, and over-the-top insinuations. Some things don't need to be said, or displayed in such an obvious manner, and certainly not in modern day cinematic colour. Apart from this... the film is as I say... probably the closest to an account of Alexander the Great ever attempted. And hence, has been slated a little unfairly in terms of it's credibility. Watching the entire film takes a lot of time, and effort. However, if you go for a DVD which, also has the process of making the film included, then this is a more comfortable and informative choice to watch, if you really can't stomach the film.

A Home at the End of the World (2004) Fantastic film, Farrell at his best. Set in a time when the unknown was just becoming known in terms of AIDS. But don't be put off, it's not a film focused just on this alone. It's a film about innocence and the realities of life we all have to face one day, and the decisions we have to make at different times in our lives in order to try and do what we feel is the right thing. The film covers the lives of three friends, and all parts are played wonderfully well. The whole film is absolutely beautiful, funny, touching and memorable. A real must see.
Veronica Guerin (2003)
S.W.A.T (2003)
Intermission (2003)
Phone Booth (2003)
A nicely presented piece of work. Has all the ingredients that make a watchable and enjoyable thriller. If you hear a ringing telephone, what are you going to do? Pick it up of course, and before you know it some nutter on the other end is in control of your life and the one you now realise you really love. It's certainly a film to make you think twice, and confirmation that you shouldn't take anything in life for granted and never pick up a ringing telephone!

Daredevil (2003)
Wow... where to start! It's madness gone silly, but there are some quite funny moments, and you're kids will probably dig it more than you. A blind superhero protecting the city against evil and Colin! It's can be a bit over verging on the violence at times... I know it might work in Batman but somehow it just doesn't cut it with this film. That said it's worth a watch if there's nothing else on the box and like I said, it's has it's funny moments and thankfully Colin's in most of them!

The Recruit (2003)
A bit obvious Hollywood, but still good. Pacino is as always... classic. The film manages to come across as believable, new potential CIA recruits being trained at a secret base, and the film explores how relationships and scenario's are not always what they seem. Colin does a great job holding his own against Pacino, and there are really good performances from everyone else too. The film is well worth your time.

American Outlaws (2001)
Hello Jessie James & Co! This is an easy on the eyes chick flick/western, with enough funny moments to keep you interested... especially Colin's accent, which in no way alternates between American and Irish... honest! Take it for what it is, grab yourslef a large glass of wine, big bar of chocolate and enjoy.

Tigerland (2000)
This is quite a serious film, set in a time when troops were being prepared for Vietnam. It's packed with brave emotion, a sense of tenderness, a reality of rawness and yet sincere warmth. The film certainly manages to leave the viewer questioning their own perception of that era. Excellent performances from everybody, and a really good, thought provoking film.
